The Christian's Ode to Joy

This is arguably the best talk I've heard on the issue of not feeling what I know to be gospel truths.

Don't listen to ourselves; talk to ourselves, for truth lies outside of us - in God's Word.

  1. Good one, we were just having a conversation about this. I'm thinking though, what does it mean to be joyful? Because he mentions that joy is not about "slapping a fake grin" on our faces, i.e. not a superficial feeling, but in the beginning he suggests that the Christian shouldn't be "miserable", which is a type of emotion after all.

But yeah, too true that we need to tell ourselves what we KNOW to be true, rather than relying on what we feel. :)

    1. Ah, that's a tough question. I don't have the definitive answer, but I'm sure it's related to the gospel and to God's work of salvation.
